Best quality of plywood is manufacturer by conforsply. Plywood is a type of engineered wood made by thin layers of wood veneer that are glued together with the help of adhesives.

Each layer has its wood grain rotated up to 90 degrees to one another. An ordinary layer of wood, cut out from a tree is usually very thin and unstable, and it is prone to expand or shrink based on the moisture content present in the wood.

Plywood help to avoid this by providing more strength and the various layers help in addressing the moisture problem.

There are two types of plywood:

  1. Softwood plywood
  2. hardwood plywood

Softwood plywood, these come from softwood of coniferous trees such as pine, fir and poplar; and the hardwood plywood, which comes from deciduous trees such as oak, maple and eucalyptus.

The kind of use decides as to what type of plywood has to be taken into function.

Some of the very common uses of plywood find place in house construction, fencing, vehicles, internal panelling etc.

Steps of making Best quality of plywood

How best quality of plywood is made

Now coming to the manufacturing process of Best quality of plywood, which is very interesting but a tad bit complicated involves more or less the following steps-

a) selection of log

b) layer formation

c) exposure to heat

d) gluing

e) baking

f) finishing

The first step involves the felling of the trees. This is done manually or with the help of chain saws or large hydraulic shears mounted on vehicles.

After the felling, the logs are cut to length in the loading area. The logs are selected as required and brought to the debarking machine.

This machine helps remove the bark from the surface of the logs either through jets of high-pressure water or sharp rotating wheels between which they are placed while being rotated continuously along their horizontal axis.

The debarked wood is taken to the mill where huge saws turn them into sections of appropriate length to make large sheets, usually about 8 feet long. These log sections are called peeler blocks.

These peeler blocks have to be softened before the veneer can be made. This is done by steaming or immersing it in hot water. Once softened, the peeler blocks are cut into sheets of veneers and the remaining piece of wood is removed.

This is usually done in an equipment called the peeler lathe. These glued sheets are loaded in the press. The press exposes the sheets to an enormous degree of temperature and pressure.

The pressure helps in giving it a hardwearing quality and the temperature helps in gluing for top class strength. The rough sheets are then passed through saws for the finishing process. Resizing and reshaping may take place subsequently.

What determines the strength of Best Quality of Plywood in 2019?

The pivotal role obviously is of the process and the technology involved. The assemblage plays quite an important role.

Assemblages at the correct angles help in providing the maximum uniform strength. Veneers are typically strong in the direction of wood grains.

Therefore, if five layered good quality plywood has to be made, then the veneers need to be placed at 0, 45, 90, 135 and 180 degree. This will help in providing durability and the proper strength.

A low quality plywood will simply have the sheets arranged perpendicular to one another. The type of glue and coating also decides the quality of the final product. Resin coating is one method to raise the shelf life of the plywood.

Technology plays the most important part in any manufacturing process and so does here. New processes and techniques have helped in achieving top-notch finished products, plywoods in this case.
